If you've followed all the guidelines you will increase the likelihood of your design being successful. However it is the ultimate decision of us at Collect to approve your design, but if it is declined, we will do our best to explain why. Although you may have met all of the outlined criteria your idea may not fit with the creative direction of the collection.
We understand that it might be difficult to gauge what type of design will be successful though so we have included on every page of this site examples of the type of thing we like - this is only a loose guide though.
Once approved for print we may need to make some slight alterations to your design depending on how well it translates through the printing process. However if any significant changes need to be made we will consult with you first.
Outlined below is a list of reasons why your design may be declined so please check through this before you begin creating.
Must be no larger than the specified size for the garment you have chosen.
You should avoid placing your design over any seems, the collar or hem of the garment, as there will likely be some distortion of the print over these uneven surfaces. If however this can be incorporated in your design then go for it.
Files should be submitted in either JPEG, GIF or PNG format.
When submitting your design, please ensure that the file is no bigger than 500kb and has a minimum resolution of 72dpi.
If your design is selected for printing, we will contact you for high res artwork.
Designs must use no more than 8 colours.
Excessive use of colours that do not add anything to the design.
Submissions that are too complex to realistically print using 8 colours.
Designs that, even with an accompanying explanation, have no connection with the theme of that collection.
You should avoid using any copyrighted or trademarked material. While there are instances in which this can be deemed acceptable (in the eyes of the law) it is best to avoid this as it can be a bit of a "grey area". You should also avoid using any likeness of celebrities living or dead as, in most cases, you will need their permission! Essentially you should try and create something that is entirely your own.
Think about your choice of image and content of copy and think whether it is likely to offend anyone.
